Statistics: Flight passenger number up 7.5 pct in H1
The number of air passengers in H1 2018 was in excess of 9.94 million, up 7.5 pct from the same period of the year before, shows data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The airports with the highest share of carried passengers are Bucharest's Henri Coanda with over 3,203 ml boardings and 3,126 million off-boardings; Cluj-Napoca - 661,600 boardings and 635,400 off-boardings; and Timisoara's Traian Vuia airport with 357,400 boardings and 373,500 off-boardings.
As far as international passenger air transport is concerned, the top ten airports travelers headed for Romania came from, by passenger numbers on regular flights, are as follows: London Luton - 417,549; Milan Bergamo - 220,930; Munich - 195,660; Rome Ciampino - 157,134; Tel Aviv - 155,386; Madrid Barajas - 146,147; Istanbul Ataturk - 117,277; Vienna - 115,855; Frankfurt am Main - 111,412; Amsterdam - 111,104.
By boarding numbers on regular flights, the ranking of destination airports is as follows: London Luton - 432,571; Milan Bergamo - 219,732; Munich - 204,906; Rome Ciampino - 158,863; Tel Aviv - 154,305; Madrid Barajas - 145,002; Istanbul Ataturk - 119,077; Vienna - 118,112; Amsterdam - 116,589; Frankfurt am Main - 112,324.
The countries most incoming air passengers came from were Italy - 844,427;UK - 682,216; Germany - 622,163; Spain - 393,482; France - 231,762; Israel - 158,416; Belgium - 156,887; Turkey - 144,104; and the Netherlands - 137,040.
By the country of destination, most passengers on regular flights were headed for Italy - 852,180; UK - 709,940; Germany - 651,336; Spain - 398,898; France - 237,064; Belgium - 160,387; Israel - 157,409; Turkey - 146,485; and the Netherlands - 143,013.
The airports with the highest shares of inland traffic were Bucharest's Henri Coanda (49.2 pct of the total number of boarded passengers), Cluj-Napoca (18.4 pct) and Timisoara's Traian Vuia airport (15.1 pct).
