Romanians prefer to spend Christmas Holiday in the family

Romanians spend Christmas in the family and the New Year with the friends and family - such is the conclusion of a survey conducted by an online hotel reservation portal sent on Monday. 

According to the survey, 65 percent of the respondents plan to go on holiday in this winter and most of them (76 percent) prefer the Romanian mountain towns or resorts. 

Top of the Romanian destinations chosen by the Romanians for the winter holidays is the mountainous Prahova Valley, then Bran-Moeciu area as well as such spa resorts as Baile Felix, Tusnad, Gura Humorului and Sovata. According to the survey conducted by HotelGuru.ro in November, the main holiday activity is leisure, with 51 percent of the polled saying they intend to spend the holidays in hotels offering spa and wellness centres. 

The survey also highlighted that the budget considered reasonable by the Romanian tourists for a vacation in Romania ranges between 600 and 1,000 lei per person. (1 euro=4.4 lei)  

Those who go on the winter holidays abroad choose a close destination, with a possibility for skiing, such as Austria, Bulgaria and France, but also Germany, Hungary and Britain. Exotic destinations such as the United Arab Emirates - Dubai and the Caribbean are also popular with the Romanians. 

The survey was carried out on a batch of 2,380 Romanian respondents, who participated online on the hotel reservation portal website.
