Agriculture minister: We will include irrigation system as strategic infrastructure
Adrian Oros, the minister of agriculture and rural development, recently declared in Braila, that he intends wit introduce the irrigation system of Romania as strategic infrastructure, to put an end to thefts and destructions.
“The almost 40 million lei per year spent on guard services, could not stop thefts and destruction in the system. That is why, once we begin to rehabilitate this system, we will include it as strategic infrastructure, so nobody could steal and destroy it. Punishments will be serious so that works could progress quickly,” Oros declared.
The minister pointed out that the lack of irrigation systems was seen especially this year when there was a serious, extreme drought and compensations do not represent a long term realistic solution for these situations.
Adrian Oros said that, 6.5 billion euros were allocated through the National resilience and economic relaunch program to be applied as of next year for these works.
