Renault Romania CEO: Test benches to be made for EURO 6 engines at Mioveni

Renault Romania CEO Nicolas Maure said on Monday that at the plant at Mioveni (southern Romania, 129 km north-west of Bucharest) test benches for EURO 6 engines would also be made.

The statement was made on signing six financing contracts suggested by the Auto Muntenia Pole and the framework agreement on the compulsoriness to achieve the minimum integrated package of projects suggested by the Auto Muntenia Pole.

'Test benches for EURO 6 engines will also be made. Moreover, this project will make it possible for us to consolidate the competitiveness of the plant at Mioveni by investments in dies, but leaving aside the investments we are going to make, we are happy there are also other partners in this pole of competitiveness so that that project will be a kind of embryo for Arges and for Dambovita [Counties, both in southern Romania], an embryo that will make all the partners in the project develop, both the public ones, such as the local authorities, but also the research and development institutions, such as universities,' said Nicolas Maure at the headquarters of the Managing Authority of the Sectoral Operational Programme Increase of Economic Competitiveness.

Interim Minister of Economy Constantin Nita, Minister Delegate for Higher Education, Scientific Research ad Technological Development Mihnea Costoiu, Renault Romania president Nicolas Maure and manager of Renault Technologie Roumanie SRL Petru Sorin Buse on Monday signed six financing contracts suggested by the Auto Muntenia Pole and the framework agreement on the compulsoriness to achieve the minimum integrated package of projects suggested by the Auto Muntenia Pole.

'This is the crowning of a successful work done by the managing authority, with the involvement of all the so-called sponsors, starting from the Prime Minister, Minister Teodorovici, Minister Costoiu, Minister Nica, vice-president Oana, who are not here today, but I am thanking them this way. We are speaking of spectacular results, a 36 per cent absorption rate, when it started from 6-8 per cent, funds amounting to 550 million, as in the five previous years we used to mention an aggregate 380 million and this was only possible through the integration of teamwork,' said Secretary of State with the Ministry of Economy Adrian Constantin Volintiru.

Two projects will be carried out jointly, worth a total value topping 171 million (38 million euros), aggregate nonrefundable financing, over RON 62 million (13.7 million euros).

The first project - SC Automobile Dacia - consists in making all the infrastructure elements necessary for installing the new 4x4 rear axle production line and dies for side frames, an investment that will be made on the Dacia Industrial Platform.

The second project jointly carried out - Renault Technologie Roumanie SRL - consists in building two halls, meant for engine testing, namely motor vehicles under safe circumstances and without negative impact on the environment or the health of the operating staff. In these halls they will put in place state-of-the-art equipment and devices, which should ensure the tests/operations required by the current demands of the market.

Of the six projects signed on Monday mention should also be made of a research, development and innovation project, with a total value of RON 5.6 million (1.2 million euros), nonrefundable financing amounting to RON 3 million (670,000 euros) - in cooperation with SC Renault Technologie Roumanie - consisting of research into the improvement of the heat comfort in the passenger compartment, research into checking, developing and testing the endurance of electric engines.

The last three projects are of a software kind, with an aggregate value of RON 2.9 million (640 thousand euros), aggregate non-refundable financing, RON 2.5 million (550,000 euros), by which they ensure the management of the pole and the coordinated and coherent implementation of the projects, training in the field of the strategic management that is of common interest for the members of the competitiveness pole.

The implementation of the projects will result in two modernized business infrastructures (the Dacia plants at Mioveni and Pitesti), two newly created business infrastructures (the technical centre at Titu and equipment for the production of components for motor vehicles).

They will also create and maintain 108 new jobs, they will inaugurate three patents for innovative systems, programmes meant to train managers within the pole, the 17 per cent increase in the turnover of the pole and the 21 per cent increase in the turnover posted in exports in the pole.
