Number of TV subscribers in Romania grew by 5pct in H1 of 2016

The number of TV subscribers in Romania grew by 5pct in the first half of 2016, up to 7.2 million, of whom 4.6 million have a cable subscription, while 2.4 million a DTH subscription, Chairman of the National Authority for Communications Administration and Regulation (ANCOM) Catalin Marinescu announced at an International Digital Forum on Wednesday. 

According to statistical data released by the said authority, 89,000 people had IPTV subscriptions. 
The number of digital TV services' subscribers grew by 7.5pct. All in all, the coverage of audiovisual program rebroadcast services through cable networks in the urban environment reached 82pct, while the countryside it attained only 36pct. 

The Digital Communications Association on Wednesday organised in Bucharest the 7th edition of the International Digital Forum, an event that gathers together representatives of the business sector alongside the relevant central authorities.
