Infrastructure: TAROM prepares opening long-courier routes to China and USA
TAROM is preparing the opening of long courier flights to China and the US. In October they intend to replace the ATR fleet, transport minister Razvan Cuc declared while attending the signing of the rehabilitation contract for buildings A, B and Rotonda at Aurel Vlaicu, Bucharest Baneasa International Airport.
As for replacing the ATR fleet, the minister said the first aircraft out of the nine planned ones should arrive in October.
“TAROM managers informed me that the first airplane should arrive in October, two more in November and another one in December... All nine airplanes will be here by March. We have nine ATR planes, of which two are grounded because of various technical problems. So only 7 planes are used. We are speaking about nine new airplanes which need no maintenance costs. So in point of advantages, I think TAROM has a great advantage. To say nothing that we will give back the other nine planes which are a part of the down payment for the new ones,” Cuc explained.
