Healthcare: Social Monitor: Half a million Romanians gave up medical care in 2018
Half a million Romanians have up medical care in 2018 because they considered they did not afford it, according to the Social Monitor, a Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Romania project.
According to statistics, about 560,000 people needed the services of specialized physicians in 2018 but avoided them because they considered they could not afford the expenses. Of them, 345,000 were women and 213,000 men. 296,000 persons lived in the rural area and 262,000 in the rural area.
At the same time, 19.5% of Romania's inhabitants have a chronic medical problem or suffer from invalidity. More exactly, 2.4% Romanians aged between 16 and 49 are faced with such an affection. People aged between 50 and 64 with chronic medical problems represent 5.5% of the population and those over 65 -11.6%.
