Healthcare: Romanian Cardiology Society requests national control plan for cardiovascular diseases
The Romanian Cardiology Society requests a national control plan for cardiovascular diseases for access to primary and secondary prevention services, when 60% of deaths every year are due to this affection.
According to RCS, the information, action and treatment level continues to be very low.
Although between 2001 and 2016, Romania's population dropped by 12%, the total number of deaths due to cardiovascular diseases dropped only by 7%, RCS mentions.
Although over 90% of people interviewed in the study “Perceptions on high blood pressure in Romania”, made by iSense Solutions in March, are familiar with this affection, 70% understand it is a serious disease, while 31% consider it could be lethal, while only 3% know high blood pressure can appear without symptoms.
According to statistics, 20% out of 7.4 million Romanians do not know they suffer from hypertension and therefore are not treated and are facing the risk of premature death.
