Cars: Automobile market in Romania on the rise by 9%
After the first 8 months of 2019, the automobile market registers a general increase of 9% compared to the same period of 2018 and of 4.5% against the previous month, according to an APIA press release.
New car sales were sustained, purchases being made mainly by companies, which recorded 58% of automobiles bought in the first 8 months of 2019. The number of cars bought by private persons in the same time span (47,167 units) is by 30.8% higher than in the same period of 2018 (30,066 units). As a result, the share of purchases made by private persons grew from 36% in 2018 to 42% in 2019.
293,507 second hand cars were registered in the first 8 months of 2019, 6% fewer than in 2018, but with a better age structure (with important drops in the segment of cars older than 12 years).
The manufacture and export of Ford Romania registered consistent volumes in the period of time analyzed, that is 89,479 units (-2.4%) for manufacture and 89,314 units (-2.9%) for export.
The month of August 2019 registers an increased volume of new car sales (+4.5%), compared to the same period of 2018. As a result, a general market increase of 9% on an overall volume of 129,759 units was recorded in the first 8 months of 2019. Of them, 110,998 are cars which recorded an increase of 10.6% and 18,761 commercial vehicles, with a growth of only 0.1%.
The top of car makes (automobiles and commercial vehicles) is headed by Dacia, with 34,419 units, followed by Volkswagen, with 11,435 units and Renault with 11,012 units. Dacia, with 32,621 units, leads the top for automobiles, while Ford (2,522 units) heads the top for light commercial vehicles.
