Healthcare: 25 million euros available in the area of healthcare
The Ministry for European Funds (MFE) on Thursday announced launching calls for projects through the management authority of the operational programme economic competitiveness, priority axis 2. There will be 25 million euros available for the development of existing research and development infrastructure and creating new infrastructure such as research labs and centres.
MFE reports in a press release issued on Thursday that the projects can be submitted September 25 - October 24 and the project competition is aimed at funding a complex project of national interest in the area of healthcare in order to prevent potentially incapacitating or lethal illnesses with support from the Health Ministry.
The funds will be allocated for the conduct of research in field(s) of national interest by the use of angiographs purchased under the project to diagnose potentially incapacitating or lethal lesions and for the angioarchitectonics of malignant tumours.
'During my visits to hospitals, I have noticed that many of them lack the technology to diagnose potentially lethal lesions. That is why I want the ministry to earmark 25 million euros under operational programme economic competitiveness to fill the gaps by purchasing angiographs. And I will not stop here. I am cooperating with Health Minister Nicolae Banicioiu to identify ways by which Romanians may get highly perfuming treatment and quality medical services,' Minister of European Funds Eugen Teodorovici is quoted as saying in the press release.
According to MFE, eligible applicants are public institutions or public law entities of national interest dealing with healthcare research. The applicants will have to meet the definition of research organisations, as laid down in the Community Framework for State Aid for Research and Development and Innovation (2014/C 198/01).
The documents needed for the launch of this call for projects have been published in the Official Journal on September 24 and are also available on the website of the Ministry for European Funds on: http://www.fonduri-ue.ro/poscce/.
