Cars: Romania - third largest registration increase for new cars in EU
Romania has registered the third largest increase of new car registration in EU - 23.9% in the first 11 months of the year, in a growing European market, while Dacia had the most important advance with a high volume of sales of 27.1% to 331,762 units.
In Romania, new car sales climbed to 64,577 units between January and November, from 51,141 units in 2013. Higher increases were registered by Portugal (34.5%) to 130,887 units and Ireland (29.4%) to 95,988 units, according to data published by the European Car Builders’ Association.
At EU level, new car sales recorded an advance of 5.7% in the first 11 months, compared to same period of 2013, to 11.6 million units, on the background of the growth of big European markets.
The car market expanded in Spain by 18.1%, Great Britain by 9.4%, in Italy by 4.3% and in France by 1.1%. The largest EU market - Germany had a 2.6% advance to 2.8 million units.
Dacia registrations grew to 331,762 units in the first 11 months compared to 261,016 in 2013.
This advance was exceeded by Jeep with an increase of 58.4% to 31,954 cars and Mitsubishi with 85,349 cars sold, on the rise by 38.9%.Dacia’s market share is 2.9% in EU, at the end of November, on the rise from 2.4% last year.
The French group Renault, the owner of Dacia had a sale increase of 14.3% in the first 11 months, to 1,121,024 cars. Renault is the third largest car producer in Europe.
The biggest European car producer, the German group Volkswagen reported an increase of 7.4% to 2.94 million cars, while registrations of PSA Peugeot Citroen, ranked second , climbed by 3.8% to 1.25 million units.
In November, there were 5,669 cars registered in Romania, on the rise by 3.4% against 2013, when 5,474 units were sold.
