Agriculture: Romania has 4.8 million ha of grazing land and hayfields
Romania has 4.8 million hectares of grazing land and hayfields, because there are not enough animals, said Petre Daea, the minister of agriculture. He added that authorities should insist on animal husbandry.
“Romania has 4.8 million hectares of grazing land and hayfields. Practically, this area means the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium as farming area. This great reserve the country has must be naturally supported. There are few places where man intervenes to improve, and that is not good,”minister Daea recently declared.
The minister also considers that Romania is “broken”from the “agricultural, structural” point of view and the correct way is enhancing animal husbandry. “Last year’s vegetal yield results are exceptional as we ranked first in EU for sunflower and corn, we are before France for corn yield, but we have no consumption capacity,”the minister added.
