Agriculture : 2012, one of the best years for Romanian wine
The 2012 wine production is one of the best in point of quality, although in point of quantity producers cannot be very satisfied, said Adrian Radulescu, the head of the Commission for Agriculture in the Chamber of Deputies at a press conference.
“For Feteasca neagra we have 260-300 grams of sugar per liter, which makes wines get strengths of 15-16 degrees. Unfortunately, exports will not be big because we are individual producers. We don’t know how to get organized and for that we lose a lot. Even the Chinese have become smart and buy only very cheap Romanian wine at 25-50 cents and resell it at higher prices. It is important that Romanians consume more and more quality Romanian wines,” Adrian Radulescu said at the second edition of the National Salon Vintest.
At present, according to the National Office of Vine and Wine Products (ONVPV) we have only 2,348. 91 ha where we grow Feteasca neagra, 12,972.56 ha of Feteasca Regala, 12,850.58 ha of Feteasca Alba, 11,407.38 Merlot, 6,567.8 ha of Riesling, 6,333.12 ha Aligote, 4,973.38 ha of Sauvignon, 4,832.71 ha with Cabernet Sauvignon, 3,987.15 ha of Muscat Ottonel.
“Our country is among wine producers of very good quality after having accessed European funds which have allowed the replacement of old wine plantations with new ones. Thus producers in neighbour countries consider Romania as the new world in the old one,” said Sergiu Nedelea, the president of Winetaste.ro, ambassador of the Association of the Association of European wine producers in Romania.
