Visit of China Gezouba Group Corporation delegation, interested in hydropower plant at Tarnita-Lapustesti
Representatives of China Gezouba Group Corporation (CGGC) on Tuesday pay a visit to Cluj County (central-western Romania) and have talks with the local authorities concerning the project for the construction of the hydropower plant of Tarnita-Lapustesti, of Transilvania Motorway and the construction of the Emergency Regional Hospital.
According to a release of the Prefecture of Cluj remitted to Agerpres, China Gezouba Group Corporation is one of the main Chinese investment companies in the transports, energy and tourism infrastructure. CGGC was the main contractor of 'Three Gorges' hydropower plant, the world's largest, on Yangtze River, and built or participated in the building of over 300 infrastructure works in the People's Republic of China - motorways, bridges, dams, railways, and housing buildings.
The investment at the hydropower plant of Tarnita-Lapustesti is evaluated at approximately 1.3 billion euros. The hydropower plant was designed for an installed capacity of 1,000 MW. The accumulation lake will have a volume of 10 million cubic metres and a 40 hectare area. The power plant would be fitted with four turbine pump groups.
Minister Delegate for Energy Constantin Nita said in Cluj Napoca in January that 'the hydropower plant at Tarnita-Lapustesti is needed for balancing the energy system.'
'The investment at Tarnita-Lapustesti is a very important one. This investment is needed and we are looking for investors, because the necessary amount of 1.2-1.4 billion euros is not a small amount and the Romanian state cannot afford such an investment. We must find a private-public partnership solution or a company that can invest this amount. We are certainly looking for such a company, as this hydropower plant is needed for balancing the energy system,' the governmental official said in Cluj-Napoca in January.
