Varujan Vosganian: Cuprumin privatization to be achieved through partnerships, not by selling ressources
Privatization of some state companies, including Cuprumin, will be achieved through partnerships, and not by selling ore reserves said, on Saturday, Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian after taking over the ministerial office.
'We started with the concept of re-industrialization through private partners or privatization, as with Oltchim and Cuprumin. Where ore deposits are in question, that will be made via partnerships, and not by selling resources. (...) The partnership supposes involvement of several sides. The Romanian side can come up with the respective resource or an already existing infrastructure, and the foreign partner or partners with investments', Varujan Vosganian emphasized.
As for Oltchim, the Minister of Economy added that, on December 27, 28 a protocol will be signed in respects of the continuation of production.
'The problem with wages for January is still unresolved. We need to see if they can be secured from own resources, or from the state resources. At the same time, a promotion campaign is needed to select interested companies to take part in the privatization process. We must have the needed expertise at the level of consultancy, so not to land into situations similar to the first privatization attempt. Oltchim will need assistance in the upcoming three months', Vosganian said.
