The Chinese return to Romania for talks on Cernavoda nuclear plant's units
The Chinese return to Romania to talk about the Cernavoda nuclear power plant units, after they were back to China to celebrate the wooden goat, Energy minister Andrei Gerea declared on Tuesday in the Senate's Transports and Energy Committee.
"We have met with their representatives in Romania. So far, all these talks with the Chinese were a come back ... the Chinese drop, if you want, to topics and chapters which we cannot backtrack on. It looks like their viewpoint has changed. I wouldn't know what happened, but I perceive a change of attitude. Now I'm more optimistic than I used to be two months ago. We are looking forward with curiosity to the negotiations to start this week with them, to see which way we take," said Gerea.
The Energy minister said that for this project there is an interest shown by the Candu Canadian company, too, whose representatives have joined the Chinese negotiation team.
The project for reactors 3 and 4 was assessed in October 2014 at EUR 6.45 billion, but the feasibility study regarding this necessary of investments will be reviewed.
The investor selected for the development of the Units 3 and 4 with the CNE Cernavoda is China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN).
