Romanian Authority for Nuclear Activities receives 200 milllion lei under budget revision

The Romanian Authority for Nuclear Activities (RAAN) received 200 million lei under the last budget revision, which was the solution to the company getting out of the collapse, Secretary of State with the Ministry of Economy Rodin Traicu told a press conference on Tuesday.

'RAAN under the budget revision received 200 million lei for the heavy water it produced, which is to be delivered to the state reserve. This way it will get out of the collapse,' said Rodin Traicu.

Initially, according to the revenue and expense budget for 2012, which was published by the Official Gazette in July, the Romanian Authority for Nuclear Activities in Drobeta-Turnu Severin (south-western Romania) was mentioned as making a gross profit amounting to 33.713 million lei in 2012, the accounting profit after the tax deduction being established at 28.589 million lei, down by 24.3 percent from the one in 2011.

The total revenues of the company were estimated at 824.471 million lei, down by 16.1 percent from the ones in 2011, and the expenses, at 790.758 million lei, down by 16.12 percent.

RAAN, which is subordinated to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and the Business Environment, is a national authority of strategic interest, with a particular specificity, whose main activity consists of producing heavy water and connected products, producing electric and thermal energy for industrial and household use as well as technological engineering activities for nuclear units and research in the nuclear field, which are made up of heavy water and electric and thermal energy producing branches, technological engineering for nuclear power plants and nuclear research.
