Romania will put coal between brackets at huge speeds
Romania will put coal in brackets at a huge speed following the decision of the European Commission to increase the percentage of renewable energy, which is a very stressful test for Romania, said the president of the Romanian National Committee for the World Energy Council – CNR-CME, Iulian Iancu.
“The whole energy sector is going through huge shocks, and we, Romania, are subjected to one of the largest, say, stress tests, in that the two-days ago decision of the European Union to raise the percentage to 34% renewable energy of the total energy means that we will put coal in brackets at a huge speed,” warned the CNR-CME leader.
Therefore, Romania will have to find solutions for capitalizing on renewable energy technology, said Iulian Iancu, quoted by Agerpres. “And then we see that we will have to find solutions from what the micro-grid is, to the prosumer transactions and to the capitalization of any technological capacity in renewable energy, and…there are EUR 7.2 billion made available by the Union European Union, out of which 70% is 100% non-repayable for small projects up to EUR 12 million,” said Iancu.
The representative of the Romanian National Committee for the World Energy Council expressed his hope in the opportunity offered by the digitalization of the utilities sector through blockchain technologies as well as through other IT technologies.
