Romania's natural gas stands at one billion cubic meters above the legal requirements for the cold season

Romania's natural gas inventory currently stands at 2.8 billion cubic meters, one billion cubic meters above the legal requirements for the cold season, Minister-delegate for Energy Razvan Nicolescu said on Friday in Deva.

According to him, it is important for Romania to be well prepared and energetically topped up to smoothly make it through the cold season; the Energy Minister explained that in the first place the population must be well protected against any adverse impact this winter.

"We must also have coal and black oil reserves, the reservoirs must be filled to a certain level, and we must have as much as possible gas reserves. Speaking of gas, for instance, we stored one billion cubic meters more than the legal requirement of 1.8 billion cubic meters. So we currently have 2.8 billion cubic meters in storage capacities because it is very important to be prepared to successfully pass this winter. Success for me means that in the first place the population is not affected, given the signals coming from the east of Romania," said the Energy Minister.

Minister Razvan Nicolaescu was this Friday in Hunedoara County, where he attended the meeting of the Social Dialogue Commission attached to the Hunedoara Prefecture called by the trade unions of the Hunedoara Energy Complex. The Minister also visited a mine in the Jiu Valley and met with the management of the Hunedoara Energy Complex and the trade unions at their headquarters in Petrosani.
