Romania's National Strategy for Climate Changes 2013-20 is approved by Government
Romania's National Strategy for Climate Changes 2013-20 (SNSC) was approved on Wednesday in the Government meeting. The above-mentioned document aims to cut emissions of greenhouse gas and to adapt to the negative unavoidable effects of the climate changes on the natural and anthropic systems, informs the Government.
SNSC aims at two action guidelines: cutting the emissions of greenhouse gas and increasing the capability to sequester the carbon dioxide by natural absorbing reservoirs, a component that is made with the support of the United Nations Development Plan, and adapting to the negative unavoidable effects of the climate changes on the natural and anthropic systems, a component that is made with the assistance of the Dutch NL Agency, details the Government's release.
The achievement of these aims, says the Government, will contribute 'to the durable use of the natural resources and to cutting the emissions of greenhouse gas in our country' and to protecting biodiversity and the natural ecosystems.
Achieving the aims included in SNSC 2013-20 will also contribute to the long-term conservation of the social welfare. Opportunities will be created for generating new jobs in specific fields. The Government also estimates a significant positive impact on health and for the communities that are most affected by the effects of the climate changes.
