OMV CEO Reiner Seele : Romania and Austria remain key markets for OMV
Romania and Austria remain key markets for OMV, since these countries supply two thirds of the oil and natural gas of the Austrian company, OMV CEO Reiner Seele said in Bucharest on Tuesday.
"I've signed a swap with Gazprom in Sankt Petersburg, and the activity in Romania shall not be affected. I'm so in love with the activity in Romania that I don't want to share it with anybody," said Seele.
Nevertheless, he added, the fields the OMV is exploiting are mature, so the Austrian group is seeking to refill its reserves.
"To do this we have two solutions: the swap with the Gazprom that is guaranteeing for the next five years a complete replacement of the reserves for all of the production. Secondly, it is about the Neptun offshore project we have in Romania. For this project, we need a stable legislative framework, because we talk of an investment for 20-25 years," the OMV head said.
At the beginning of April, the Austrian OMV and Russia's Gazprom have signed an accord in Sankt Petersburg on a swap of assets between the two companies.
