Ciolos: to become an energy hub, a partnership with Turkey, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is important for Romania
For Romania to become an energy hub, a partnership with Turkey as well as other countries like Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is important, Romania's Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos said Tuesday.
"Regional cooperation is important, particularly under the aegis of the European neighborhood policy that will go beyond Ukraine and Moldova. For Romania to become an energy hub, its partnership with Turkey is important as well as its partnerships with countries such as Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, so that the current resources in the Caspian Sea may find connection with South-Eastern Europe," Ciolos told a conference on food security and energy at the Romanian Banking Institute in Bucharest.
He also warned about the need for the EU member states to continue their efforts to that end.
"From this point of view, the EU member states in this region should continue their efforts to continue to find or strengthen political will at a European level for this part of Europe to get connected to the energy market for gas and electricity alike," said Ciolos.
