Nita: Iasi- pipelineUngheni work to begin in May

Construction works of Iasi-Ungheni pipeline will begin in May and are to be completed by the end of the year, according to estimates of the Minister Delegate for Energy, Constantin Nita.

'Development of gas interconnections and electricity networks is a key element in achieving regional energy security. Both sides have reaffirmed their support for the development of Nabucco project, as an important part of the process of diversification of supply sources ', said Nita who met, on Wednesday, the Polish Ambassador to Bucharest, Marek Szczygiel, according to a press release.

The talks agenda included the regional cooperation on energy, policies in the field of exploration and exploitation of unconventional resources and structured cooperation as concerns the integration of the markets for electricity, due the next day, of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania.

'Ambassador Marek Szczygiel made a presentation of a Polish project with regional impact focused on developing the liquefied natural gas terminal. Completion of this project will contribute to increase the level of energy independence of Poland, going to be interconnected to a transport network, also set to ensure distribution to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe ', the release also informs.

As concerns the activities of exploration and exploitation of conventional and unconventional resources, the two sides have reiterated their commitment to an applied collaboration in the field of policies drafting in this sector. In this respect, a first step is represented by the potential visit to Warsaw of the Minister Delegate for Energy, Constantin Nita.

'Poland is a country of reference for Romania in terms of seizing the economic opportunities. The fact that they are advanced in the process of working out legislation covering the oil and gas sector can be a helpful element for Romania, in the context in which we stake on valuing the full capacity of these two resources potential on medium and long term. In addition, it is vital to develop strong partnerships at regional level, which would contribute to a unitary approach inside the European Union', Nita stressed.
