Gov't to continue support for investments of ExxonMobil, other oil and gas companies

Black Sea resources could play an essential part in Romania's energy security, and that is why the Romanian Government will continue its support for the important investment projects that ExxonMobil and other companies are currently developing, Prime Minister Victor Ponta said Monday at a meeting at the Government House with ExxonMobil Vice-President Mark Alberts.

The Romanian Government reports in a press release that Ponta underscored the interest of the Romanian Government in boosting investment in oil and natural gas so that Romania may achieve its energy security objective.

'Prime Minister Victor Ponta hailed the intentions of ExxonMobil to start up in the natural gas market of Romania as soon as possible, encouraging a boost in the oil drilling programme for the Black Sea continental shelf conducted by the ExxonMobil-Petrom consortium. He also voiced appreciation over the recent conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the consortium and Romania's Transgaz national gas transmission corporation,' reads the release.

In his turn, the ExxonMobil representative unveiled the latest developments in the corporation's natural gas exploration in Romania's Black Sea continental shelf, as well as intentions to be on the gas market of Romania and the region.
