Gas imports of Romania have increased by 50% in January and were four times more expensive
Romanian gas imports have increased in the first month of this year by 50% against the same month of last year and were at a price four times higher, show the reports of the National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE).
Thus, if in January 2021 imports were 2.7 million MWh, in January 2022 they were 4 million MWh.
The import price was 305 lei/MWh, four times higher than 68 lei/MWh as it was in January 2021.
At the same time, the domestic production dropped from 8.7 million MWh to 8.1 MWh.
Imports represented 30% of the total consumption of the country in January 2022. The main importers were MET Austria Energy Trade (27.1% of the total) and WIEE Romania (20.6%).
The final comsuption of gas was reduced by 11% from 7.8 million MWh to 17 million MWh.
