EIB grants 32.65 mln euros for investments in Paroseni plant
The Government on Wednesday approved the bill on the ratification of the Funding Contract between Romania and the European Investment Bank (EIB), worth 32.65 million euros, funds to contribute to the implementation of the environmental investment program of the Paroseni thermoelectric power plant.
Romania will contribute an equal amount to finance the project, with the Public Finance Ministry contracting public debt instruments. The all-in value of the project stands at 65.3 million euros.
The project will be implemented by the Electric and Thermal Energy Producer Paroseni or by any other legal successor following the reorganization measures of the electric energy producers under the authority of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Milieu.
The project aims to create safety conditions and conditions observing the legislation on the environmental protection, thus seeking to include the evolution of the energy sector in Romania's strategy of sustainable development of the economy, as well as to respect the environmental obligations Romania pledged to.
An installation meant to desulphurate the burnt gas will be set up and also a system aimed to collect, transport and deposit the ash and the cinders, in order to significantly reduce the SO2 emissions and the pollution degree generated by the current management of the ashes of burning residues.
