Avrig - the first town energetically independent in Romania by 2030
Avrig in Sibiu county will become the first town energetically independent in Romania by 2030, and the necessary investment for this programme is almost 50 millon euro, the mayor of Avrig Arnold Klingeis stated for Agerpress, being present at a workshop Romanian-Chinese for science and technology, developed in Bucharest.
"I proposed this programme in two stages. Firstly we want to implement by 2020 a series of technologies which should ensure the production of alternative energy at local level, parallel to measures to increase efficiency, and by 2030 the town should be independ energetically. Thus, all energy will be produced locally, and the surplus of energy will be exported to other areas", Klingeis said.
According to him, such a programme includes investment of over 50 million euro, a reasonable sum taking into consideration the benefits brought to the local community, a small town of 14,000 inhabitants.
He also mentioned that a part of the investment is brought about as there are companies interested in investing in this area, in technologies for alternative energy".We have Bosch from Germany, which will invest on 40 ha in a photovoltaic park, and a company from England which will build a power station on biomass, and several investors on hydro and biogas. We negotiate with Chinese investors as well to bring other equipments in the domain of renewable energies. Everything will be integrated in the administrative area of Avrig, the number of work places will increase and there will be economic stability for the people"the mayor said.
More than that, Arnold Klingeis mentioned that together with investment in technology important are the measures to get energy efficiency.
"Energy which is not consumed should not be produced. It is important to encourage the thermal isolation of buildings, the change of lighting systems, as well as the implementation of management systems for energy consumption in a flat or house. All combined will have an important impact on the community, the consumption will be reduced by 60-80% and the difference will be produced out of alternative sources. I consider that renewable energy is a cathalyst of sustainable development for the small and medium-sized communities of Romania" the mayor said.
Investment of 15 billon dollars in renewable energy production in Ghimbav
The ICCO group and the American company Lockheed Martin inaugurated the Industrial Park ICCO in Ghimbav, Brasov, the first project type Smart Grid in Romania, the total value of the investent for the production of energy out of renewable resources being 15 million dollars. In the first phase, the value of the investment is 12 million dollars, to follow the installation of photovoltaic panels both for the five shops in the industrial park 0 50,000 square metres, as well as on the ground - a surface of a ha, according to Calin Costan, the president of ICCO group. For the second stage, next year, the surface of the park to have photovoltaic panels will be extended by four ha, on the ground, investment which requires three million dollars.
"It is a project in which we invest, totally, 15 million dollars, 12 million dollars over this period and three million next year. We will create by 2013, a revolutionary system of production and distribution of energy to bring, on the one hand, economy to the electricity bill and a reduction of the impact on the environment. This is one of the first projects of photovoltaic parks in Romania, and the ICCO teams and Lockheed Martin finalised it very quickly" Costan stated.
The ambassador of the US Mark Gitenstein present at the inauguration said that the investment in Ghimbav strengthens the partnership between the US and Romania, being the first application Smart Grid in Romania and the first commercial project of Lockheed in Romania.
Smart Grids use IT solutions and technologies for the optimisation of the infrastructure and the monitorisation of the production and the consumption of electricity. In the project ICCO will develop an energy system with photovoltaic panels which will geneate , first, 4.8 MW and secondly another 7, ensuring a great part of the energy necessary for the functioning of the park.
The project worth another 12 million dollars will integrate photovoltaic panels furnished by the American company Tenksolar and Helios as well as the wind turbines made by Windstream Technologies.
