AOAR: Romania needs a law to be restored in operation or construction of energy production units

Romania firstly needs a law which allows the putting back into use or the construction of new units for the production of electricity (group of almost 800Mw similar to that of OMV Petrom) the progressive replacement of the feeding of thermo-units on oil and/coal considers the Association of the Business People of Romania (AOAR) in a document presenting their position on the debate referring to the fiscal regime applicable to the oil resources and natural gas.

‘AOAR watches with increased interest the debates both in the parliament of Romania and the public ones on the adoption of a legislation regarding the taxing of the exploitation of natural gas from the Black Sea.The debates limited in time and at a level of consultation concentrate excessively on the establishment of an acceptable level of debts to be collected by the Romanian state as a supplementary source for the state budget’ the press release of AOAR reads.

The business people say in the document that they supported constantly over the last years the importance of taking over  at a higher level the raw materials offered by the ground and the soil of our country be it cereals, minerals, mineral water, geothermal resources and obviously natural gas and oil.

‘In this sense, we consider as essential that the decisions regarding the fiscal regime applicable to the oil and gas resources resulting after the offshore exploittions be preceded by the adoption of a draft law more relevant which will be debated and approved in the Romanian Parliament.Romania has firstly, the need to produce electricity (group of almost 800 Mw similar to that built by OMV Petrom) the progressive replacement of the feeding the thermo-power units on oil and or coal’ the AOAR says.

According to the Association, it is necessary to assume through the law the issues of real public interest, such as the rebuilding of the potential of natural gas putting to value through the restaring of the oil-chemical capacities, the modernisation or the construction of new capacities of production ( the example of the MOL in Hungary).
AOAR appreciates that it is time for the government and the parliament and all the political parties to contribute to the foundation and achievement of economic policies favourable to the business environment.

‘If Romania benefitted from an energy strategy adequate to its industrial policy through clear commitment to the economic interest of the country such controversies would have taken place! AOAR appreciates that it is time after 30 years of chaotic restructuring of the Romanian economy the government and the parliament and all the political parties to contribute to the creation and achievement of economic policies favourable to the business environment as a constant source of income so that the coherent and performing functioning of the central administration and the sustainability of the public pensions systems as well as the health, education and defence systems function’ the Association says.
