ANRE asks gas market deregulation as of July 1
The Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE) has asked the Ministry of Energy to abrogate as of July 1 the Government Decision that established the calendar for deregulating the market for natural gas for household, ANRE President Niculae Havrilet said on Thursday in a specialist conference.
"We had a few days ago a meeting at the Ministry of Energy, where we presented this situation. We considered it important for the initiator of the Government Decision that established this calendar to know that presently the trend of the natural gas market is favorable to deregulation. It is the best moment to complete the deregulation. Basically, we requested that the Government Decision that imposes increasing prices to the domestic consumer by 10pct from 1 July to be abrogated and to remain at the price of 60 lei per MWh, as it is today, as a reference price, with the market to establish the real price, but not to start from 66 lei or even 72 lei as is it stipulated in the deregulation calendar," the ANRE official said.
He added that, according to the calendar, regulated prices will go up by 10pct, from 60 lei per MWh to 66 lei per MWh, which is more than the free market price, currently around 63 lei per MWh.
