Trade : Romanians willing to pay more for electric household appliances with safety devices
The Romanians are worried about house safety and are willing to pay more for household appliances equipped with safety devices, 41% saying they would pay up to 100 lei more and 23% 150 lei more, a study made by Electrolux Romania shows.
However, not all Romanians choose safety with thermocouple, meant to prevent accidents which could appear following interrupted gas supply, although they say safety is one of the criteria they take into account when purchasing household appliances. 45% of people interviewed said the cooker they owned was not equipped with thermocouples although 37% of them declared that safety functions were the most important criteria they took into account when buying a cooker.
The other aspects Romanians have in view include price (34%), make (28%) and oven capacity (21%), the study shows. Another aspect is the fact that despite the present economic context, 46% of people interviewed said they had bought a household appliance in the past year, while 30% did so three years before.
Most frequently, Romanians use fridges (95%), vacuum cleaners (90%), irons (89%) and cookers (87%).The study was made over 1-15 October on a representative sample of 751 persons.
