Trade: Monthly alcohol beverage consumption in 2014 was 1.1 litres of beer and 1.1 litres of wine, plum brandy and natural brandy
The monthly per capita alcohol beverage consumption in 2014 was 1.1 litres of beer and 1.1 litres of wine, plum brandy and natural brandy, the National Institute of Statistcs (INS) said in a release.
"The monthly per capita consumption of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages in 2014 was as follows: 4.8 litres of mineral water and other non-alcoholic beverages; 1.1 litres of beer, 0.9 litres of wine, 0.2 litres of plum brandy and natural brandies. Compared to 2011 the advance in figures is as follows: 4 percent for mineral water and other non-alcoholic beverages, 5.8 percent for beer, 2.5 percent for wine, 1.8 percent for plum brandy and natural brandies," reads the document.
Total consumption expenditures per household stood at a monthly 1,637 lei, of which 7.7 percent went for alcohol beverages and tobacco. A share of 40 percent was assigned for agri-foods and non-alcoholic beverages.
Agri-food products and non-alcoholic beverages accounted for the highest share of total consumption expenditures (40 percent), down 1.7 percentage points from 2011. By contrast, spending with housing and house maintenance advanced from one year to the other (in 2014 the figure was 0.9 percentage points higher than in 2011). In 2014, food expenditures accounted for 34.7 percent of the aggregate household consumption spending, expenditure with non-foods was 34.8 percent and spending with services accounted for 30.5 percent of the overall figure, said INS.
