Trade: GfK TEMAX : Romanian durable goods market, up 14pct to 814 mln euro in Q3
The Romanian durable goods market rose by 14pct in the third quarter of 2018 compared to the same period of last year, having reached 814 million euro, the growth engines being the telecom sector, which posted a 19pct rise and office equipment, by 17pct, according to GfK TEMAX findings for Romania in Q3 2018.
On the other hand, the photo sector continues its downward trend, losing 10pct of its value from July-September 2017.
Analyzing the relevant market's performance in the first nine months of this year (not just strictly for Q3 2018), growth engines are similar. Overall, the market rose by over 17pct, to 2.22 billion euro, thanks to the same categories: telecom, by over 29pct, and office equipment - over 16pct.
In the telecom sector, a booming category is that of phantoms, with an increase of more than 400pct compared to Q3 2017 and 36pct compared to Q2 2018. A strong growth is also recorded by core wearables, namely 37.5pct.
Electronic products rose nearly 12pct, largely due to the performance of the TV-sets category, which recorded a 12pct increase in the third quarter of 2018, compared to the similar period of 2017.
The large household appliances sector increased its value by 11pct and that of small appliances by 8pct.
In the category of large household appliances, a very good performance was recorded by laundry dryers (+63pct in Q3 2018 compared to the same period of last year). A similar development was recorded by freezers (+46pct), while dishwasher sales increased by more than 13pct.
In the IT section, the sector was boosted by monitors, with sales up by 38.5pct from Q3 2017, computers were up by 27pct, while laptops remained in the single digit zone, with almost 8pct.
In office supplies and consumables, multi-purpose devices increased their sales by almost 17pct.
