Tourism : Tourists on the seaside increased in 2015 by some 18 to 20pct
The number of tourists who chose the Romanian seaside as holiday destination increased in 2015 by some 18 to 20pct, representatives of hotel employers' associations said on Tuesday at the opening of the Tourism Exchange in Mamaia.
The increase was owed to the intense promotion campaign of the seaside, which was started last autumn, the high number of events organized in all resorts, improved tourist services provided by hoteliers and owners of guesthouses, restaurants and recreation facilities, as well as to the measures taken lately by the Government, which have had a direct effect on stimulating the increase in tourist circulation, reads a press release issued by the Seaside - Danube Delta Association.
This year's top seaside resorts have been Mamaia, Eforie and Venus.
The southern seaside also saw a higher number of tourists, especially due to new investments in the hotel sector (mainly in Venus) and in leisure, such as a new adventure park opened in Neptun.
This year, according to the Seaside - Danube Delta Association, the number of charter flights Tel Aviv to Constanta has doubled from 2014, which has generated a total of 4,000 Israeli tourists and revenues of 4 million dollars from holiday packages, plus revenues of some 1.5 million dollars from the sale of tickets for sights, tours and local excursions.
"We consider 2015 as the best season since 2008, when we had the best year for the Romanian tourism in recent years. In 2015 we have promoted Mamaia, the seaside and the Danube Delta as a first to two foreign markets not approached before, Turkey, Italy and Israel respectively. We will continue also in 2016 the promotion campaign Mamaia Style by participating in domestic and international trade fairs, infotrips and holding events," said the Seaside - Danube Delta Association's Chairwoman Corina Martin.
