Cars: Logan, Duster and Sandero best sold cars in Russia
Logan, Duster and Sandero were in the top of the best sold 25 models in Russia, according to data published by the Association of European Businesses (AEB) in August, but deliveries of automobiles and commercial vehicles recorded a decline of 19.4%, Reuters informs. Last month Solaris from Hyundai ranked first in the top of best sold cars in Russia (10,581 units), followed by Lada Granta (9,070 units), manufactured by AvtoVAZ. Duster and Logan ranked 4th and 5th with 3,654 and 3,496 units, while Sandero ranks 11th with 2,452 units.
Duster, Logan and Sandero are manufactured by Renault.
Sales of automobiles and commercial vehicles dropped in August by 19.4% in the Russian market, the eighth month of decline on the background of problems facing the economy and the depreciation of ruble, according to the Association of European Businesses announced. In July, there was a drawback of 27.5%. Last month 138,670 cars were sold in Russia against 172,018 in August 2014.
Over January-August 2015, sales of cars and light commercial vehicles dropped by 33.5% to 10.5 million vehicles.
In the first 8 months of the year the top of the best sold 25 cars in Russia included Lada Granta (81,748 units), manufactured by AvtoVAZ, followed by Solaris from Hyundai (74,534 units). Logan and Duster ranked 4th and 6th with 427,702 and 26,834 vehicles, while Sandero ranked 13th with 18,927 vehicles.
The automobile market in Russia is going through difficult moments and will register a sales decline of 30% this year, according to Marcus Osegowitsch, the head of the Russian subsidiary of Volkswagen.
“Provisions of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) about the drop by 25% of deliveries in the Russian market are optimistic. It will be much worse. In the first 5 months of the year there was a drawback of 38-40%, but the rate will continue and the decline will be about 30%,” Osegowitsch said.
