A family in northern Bucharest allocates on the average, 3,000 euros for  holidays 45% more than a family in the south of the Capital city and two times more than the average expenses of a family at national level, according to a study made by TUI Travel Center, one of the largest tour operators in Romania, with 80 sales points in the whole country.

The shortest holiday in 2017, new year’s eve in the Maldives, was bought by a Romanian couple from an agency in a mall in Baneasa for 84,000 euros.

“On the average, a Romanian family allocates 1,500 euros for a holiday. Tourists from Moldova spend 1,100 per family for a holiday, those from the south of the country spend 1,400 euros and those from Transylvania 1,500 euros”, TUI Travel Center data show.

According to a study made by TUI Travel Center based on centralised data from 80 agencies throughout the country, the highest holiday budget for a family with one child is allocated by tourist from northern Bucharest. They allocate about 3,000 euros for a single holiday.

According to the average amount available for a family holiday the county top is as follows: Bucharest and Ilfov -1,700 euro/holiday/family, Cluj -1,600 euros, Constanta- 1,500 euros, Timisoara -1,450 euros, Sibiu- 1,350 euros and Iasi- 1,300 euros.

“The most expensive holiday sold last year by TUI Travel Center, new year’s eve in the Maldives was bought by a couple of Romanians from the agency in Baneasa Shopping City and cost 84,000 euros. The package of tourist services included accommodation in a six star private villa for ten nights. The villa surrounded by luxurious vegetation and located on the ocean shore has its own swimming pool and staff for every tourist. The package also included air transport to the Maldives, local transfers and round the clock tourist assistance. The Romanian tourists also wanted spa sessions, Romanian dinners and safari with dolphins,”TUI TravelCenter representatives showed.

The analysis of the average price of tourist packages bought by a family in various areas of Bucharest, where TYI has 12 agencies, proves different consumption habits.

A family who choose to buy travel packages from the agency in Baneasa Shopping City pays about 3,000 euros for a vacation. The average package bought from Bucharest Sun Plaza Mall costs about 2,000 euros, from Bucharest Mega Mall and ParkLane Mall -1,800 euros, from Bucharest Vitan Mall -1,700 euros and from Bucharest Afi Cotroceni -1,600 euros.

At Baseasa Shopping City the sales top includes exotic destinations like the Maldives, Thailand, Mexico or the Dominican Republic, where accommodation in five star hotels is required. Destinations preferred by those who buy holidays from the other agencies in the Capital are the ones offered in Turkey, Spain and Greece, at three-four star hotels.

Tourists from western Romania prefer summer destinations in Montenegro, Italy and Croatia because they are closer to residence towns, accent being placed on individual holidays (transport by private car).

“However, people from Transylvania prefer classic destinations- Turkey (Antalya), Greece (Crete), and Dubai, to which we can add exotic destinations like Mexico”, tour operator official mention.

Cluj, Bucharest, Timisoara and Constanta can be remarked for the high number of customers who purchase more than a holiday per year from TUI TRavel Center.

Most exotic holidays in demand in Bucharest are those far away: Bora-Bora, Patagonia, New Zealand, with unusual experiences.

Iasi prefers classical destinations in Turkey, Greece and Spain and all inclusive holidays in Bulgaria. People from Constanta choose Spain-Tenerife and exotic holidays in Punta Cana and Thailand.

TUI Travel Center had in 2017 an increase of 30% of the sales figure, reaching 100 million euros. For 2018 the company foresees a 12% sale increase.
