Tourism : Romanians prefer to spend their summer vacations abroad, decided to go in Greece or to Tenerife
Most of the Romanians that chose to spend their summer vacations abroad, decided to go in Greece (Crete, Zakynthos, Santorini, Corfu) or to Tenerife, while the perfect destinations for a city break remained the big European cities - Rome, Paris, Barcelona and Venice, according to an online travel agency analysis, sent on Thursday.
The cheapest city break stands at 109 euro per person, in Rome, while for a 7 day stay outside the country, transport and accommodation included, Romanian tourists pay an average of 550 euro per person, according to the quoted analysis. Travel agency officials stated that this summer, the average price for a city break stood at 250 euro per person, 3 night accommodation and airplane tickets included.
"Overall, we can say that it has been a pretty restless summer regarding the tourists activity, with replacements in the raking of Romanians' favorite destinations for summer vacation. Although it rose numerous question marks, Turkey continued to be in demand, but in a lower degree than last year. Because of this situation, older destinations that have gone under a cone of shadow, for instance Tenerife or new destinations that Romanians love, such as Portugal," stated Daniel Truica, CEO at Vola.ro.
The extremes of this summer were a city break in Vienna, for a 7 person group, including accommodation for 5 nights, transport by airplane and optional trips, that stood at 3,740 euro and the one in Tokyo, at a 5 star hotel and business class ticket, that amounted to 10,000 euro for a family.
On average, Romanian tourists booked their vacation almost a month and a half before, for longer stays, and 2 and a half months before, for city breaks. However, some of them made a booking 3 weeks before the departure. More exactly, 20 percent of city break reservations and 24 percent of vacation reservations were done 21 days before. Almost 7 percent of the reservations were made in the last week, just before departure, most of the tourists having benefited from last minute offers, that went down up to 60 percent for Greece destinations.
