Tourism: Romania among best and cheapest countries that can be discovered while driving
The interest in renting a car during holidays has grown this year, by 162% on the average compared to 2019, and Romania is among the best and cheapest European countries that can be discovered while driving, according to an analysis made by momondo.ro, a global search engine for travels.
According to the source, out of a total of 33 European countries analyzed, the best ranking according to five categories (costs, sustainability, camping and outdoors, comfort and infrastructure, nature and tourist objectives) are:the Netherlands (sustainability), Serbia (low costs), France (camping and outdoors, nature and tourist objectives) and Switzerland (comfort and infrastructure).
“Despite inflation and high fuel prices, Romania remains a relatively cheap country good for travel, compared to many other countries in Europe, ranking 6th in the top of cheapest countries for car travel this year. Gas prices in Romania is the equivalent of the average price at European level, while electric car charging and parking fees remain some of the lowest (about 0.54 euros for 2 hours). Moreover, low accommodation and car rental prices contribute to making this country attractive for people interested in low budget traveling,”the analysis mentions.
According to the source, Germany ranked first in the 2022 top, with highest scores for comfort and infrastructure, nature and tourist attractions.
