Tourism: Over 4.2 million euros returned to customers affected by flight cancellations this year
Over 4.2 million euros were paid back to customers affected by flight cancellations this year, offering at the same time various solutions to recover the said amounts, according to a statistic made by one of the online travel agencies in Romania.
According to Vola.ro, during the emergency state, about 95% of their customers' flights were canceled, 41,739 customers being affected by these changes. Of them, 71% have already received return solutions of over 4.2 million euros and efforts continue to be made to complete all payment processes initiated.
Centralized data show the fact that airplane ticket sales dropped to 88%, during the emergency state. In this context, the official statistic shows that, at European level, over March 15 – July 1, 2020 between 20,000 and 25,000 flights were canceled daily, according to a company press release.
The percentage is backed by Eurocontrol figures, which reported that air traffic in Romania dropped by 87% during the emergency state, compared to the same period of 2019.
