Cars: Dacia car sales in Europe dropped by 34% in August
Dacia car sales recorded a drop of 34% in Europe in August, while the car manufacturer's market share dropped to 3.9% from 4.8% (in the same period of 2019), according to ACEA statistics released on last Thursday.Statistic data are available for EU states, UK and EFTA countries – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
Dacia car registrations in Europe amounted to 34,112 units last month, on the drop compared to the same period of 2019 (51,680 vehicles). The French groups Renault and PSA Peugeot Citroen reported sales drops of 22.8% and 19% in August, while the German group Volkswagen AG recorded a drop of 24.2%. The American company Ford and the German group Daimler AG reported a delivery drop of 13% and 17.4% last month.
In July, Dacia car registrations in Europe dropped by 10.3% to 47,282 units.
In the first 8 months of the ongoing year, Dacia car deliveries registered a drop of 40.5% in Europe and the market share of the automobile manufacturer dropped to 3.4% from 3.8% in the same period of 2019. Dacia car registrations in Europe amounted to 247,581 units, on the drop compared to January-August 2019 (416,197 vehicles).
The French groups Renault and PSA Peugeot Citroen reported sales drops of 34.5% and 39.6%, while the German group Volkswagen AG recorded a drop of 30.6%. The American company Ford and the German group Daimler AG reported last month delivery drops of 38.3% and 30.7%.
Dacia company was taken over by Renault in 1999. Relaunched in 2004 with Logan and Dacia became an important player in the European market.
