Tourism: One out of four Romanians chooses Romania for holiday; Greece ranks second

Romania is preferred as tourist destination for five day sojourns by 41% of Romanians who live in the urban area, while Greece ranks second with 16% of votes, a study shows.

According to results of the study made by Exact Business Solutions, when Romanians are planning a vacation they get information from family members or friends (56%). Websites of travel agencies represent an information source for 5 out of 10 tourists and social media for 4 out of 10 tourists.

Most Romanians prefer going on holidays by their private cars (52%), find accommodation in hotels (45%) without food services (38%). Most tourists belonging to the same category are represented by couples (46%) and families with children (30%), the study shows.

In the city break trip segment, Rome represents the choice of 18% of Romanians, followed by Paris with 11% and Vienna (6%). A third of Romanians choose city break travels twice a year, 28% once a year and 26% once every 2-3 months.

Six out of ten Romanians who choose city breaks travel with their partners and go by plane, while 5 out of 10 look for accommodations in hotels and 4 out of 10 choose accommodation and breakfast. 

Traveler's Persona Study was made by Exact Business Solutions in November, 2019, on a sample of 1,083 persons aged over 18, living in the urban area, Internet users, who left on holiday in the last 6 months.
