Romanians bought 5,283 “green” cars in first 10 months
Romanians bought, in the first 10 months of the year, 5,283 ecological cars, on the rise by over 50% against the same period of 2018, according to data centralized by APIA.
In that context, the share of this segment of automobiles in overall local market reached 3.7%, compared to 2.7% in the first 10 months of the previous year.
According to the specialized analysis , of overall sales of green cars made over January-October 2019, most (3,784 units) were hybrid, on the rise by 37.1% against the same period of 2018, while 1,185 units are included in the electric car category (+143.3%) and 304 units are in the plug-in category (+19.7%).
First place in the top of best sold fully electric cars is held by Nissan qith 319 units (against 39 units in 2018), followed by Renault with 316 units (+345.1%), Volkswagen (203 units, +63.7%), BMW (155 units, +40.9%), Smart (127 units, +25.7%),Jaguar (32 units, against none in 2018), Audi (17 units, against none in 2018) and Mercedes Benz (3 units against 1 in 2018).
Most hybrid cars sold in Romania, in the analyzed period, were: Toyota – 3,265 units, Lexus -203, Ford -83, Honda -72, Suzuki 70, Kia 44, Land River 3.
Mitsubishi is the sales leader of plug in cars – 126 units, followed by Volvo -65 units, Land Rover 37, BMW 36, Porsche 26, Mini 4, Toyota 1.
In October, electric and hybrid car sales had a share of 3.2% in the market, inferior to the one recorded a month ago (4%).
