Tourism: Number of tourists choosing Romania will exceed 12 millions in 2017
Romanian tourism has grown by 10% in 2017, according to official data, while the total number of tourists choosing Romania is estimated to exceed 12 millions this year, a value which has not been reached since 1990, says Adrian Voican, first vice-president of the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT).
According to him, the number of foreign tourists will reach a record of over 2.6 millions.
“In the first nine months of 2017, the number of Romanian tourists travelling in Romania grew by a million, to 9.5 millions. According to all estimates, the total number of tourists choosing Romania will reach this year 12 millions, a value which has not been reached since 1990. Balneary tourism is more and more appreciated and sales in the field doubled this year,” said Adrian Voican in a press release.
According to data centralised after the closing down of Romania’s Tourism Fair, Romanians showed interest for local tourism at the autumn edition of the fair, the main travel destinations for the winter season 2017, having been booked over 90%. The most favoured destinations were Calimanesti-Caciulata, Baile Felix, Baile Govora, Prahova Valley and Bran-Moeciu.
For the summer of 2018, there were early bookings, especially for Black Sea resorts, Mamaia, Eforie Nord and Jupiter.
