Tourism – November and the period 1.I-30.XI.2014 : the arrivals in tourist accommodation structures rose by 5.4%
The number of arrivals and overnight stays in tourist accommodation structures recorded, in the first 11 months of 2014, increases by 6.4% and by 4.8% respectively, compared to the corresponding period in 2013, show the data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
According to the cited source, in November 2014, compared to the same month of the previous year, the arrivals in tourist accommodation structures rose by 5.4% whereas overnight stays decreased by 1.6%.
Arrivals in the said structures from January 1 to November 30, 2014 totaled 7.89 million, up by 6.4% from those in the same period in 2013. Of the total number of arrivals, Romanian tourists' arrivals in the said structures represented, in the first 11 months of last year, 77.2%, whilst foreign tourists accounted for 22.8%, shares close to those in the same period of 2013.
Regarding foreign tourists' arrivals in the said tourist structures, most of these represented arrivals from Europe (77.2% of total foreign tourists), and 85.7% of these were from EU countries.
The arrivals in hotels account for, from January to November 30, 2014, 75.1% of total arrivals in tourist accommodation structures. Compared to the similar period in 2013, the arrivals in hotels in the first 11 months of 2014 rose by 6.7%.
The overnight stays in the said structures from January 1 to November 30, 2014 totaled 19.084 million, up by 4.8% compared to the same period of 2013. Of the total number of overnight stays, 81.4% were Romanian tourists' overnight stays from January 1 to November 30, 2014, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 18.6%.
The average duration of stay from January 1 to November 30, 2014 was 2.6 days in the case of Romanian tourists and 2 days in the case of foreign tourists.
The net use index of accommodation places from January 1 to November 30, 2014 was 26.7% per total tourist accommodation structures, up by 0.9 percentage points from the same period in 2013. Higher use index of accommodation places from January 1 to November 30, 2014 were recorded for hotels (33.7%), tourist villas (20.4%) and tourist houses (19.3%).
Foreign visitors' arrivals in Romania, registered at border checkpoints, stood, from January 1 to November 30, 2014 at 7.884 million, up by 5% from the same period in 2013. Most foreign visitors came from Europe (92.5%).
Romanian visitors' departures abroad, registered at border checkpoints, amounted from January 1 to November 30, 2014 at 11.562 million, up by 8.9% from the same period in 2013. Road transport means were mostly used by Romanian visitors for traveling abroad, having stood at 76.2% of the total number of departures.
