Tourism: Dental tourism in expansion in Romania
There has been a significant increase of the number of foreign or Romanian patients who come from other countries to benefit from complex dental treatments at low prices in Romania, says Oana Taban the founder and CEO of the group of dental clinics Dent Estet.
“An annual increase between 15 and 20% from one year to another in the last 5 years, of foreigners who used our services, represents one of the factors that have contributed to reaching 4 million euros for the business figure generated by the clinics I am head of. Incomes from dental tourism alone represent 15% of the figure, said Taban.
In her opinion, Romania has a huge potential to attract foreign clients for dental tourism, especially because of the costs of treatments of up to 70% lower than in their countries. However few clinics in Romania have international standards, the technology needed and a super-specialised medical team which can offer services at the same quality levels found in elite clinics in developed countries.
The head of Dent Estet says that dental tourism is a phenomenon often found at world level and very developed in Europe.
The treatment plans of foreigners who use physicians in Romania have costs between 8,000 and 20,000 euros while treatments most used are dental implants.
