Tourism: Cruise season in Constanta harbour with 54,000 tourists
Over 54,000 passengers arrived in Constanta Harbour in 2013 cruise season, 60% more than in 2012.
69 passenger ships arrived in the harbour this year, compared to 52 ships in 2012.Nicolae Ionescu, the manager of CNAPM (“Maritime Posts Administration” National Company) mentioned on Monday that the cruise season had remarkable results this year compared to previous ones, substantially increasing the number of ships which stopped at the cruise terminal as well as the number of tourists aboard them.
Constanta has also become embarking harbour for Romanian and foreign tourists. According to CNAPM, the ships MSC Sinfonia and MSC Orchestra will be available in 2013 for cruises. They are scheduled to arrive 8 times in Constanta Harbour, the holiday route including ports in Greece, Turkey and Italy.
“CNAPM Constanta has initiated actions to attract the first company – MSC Cruises , which turned Constanta into an embarking harbour by joining the International Association Med Cruise,” said Nicolae Ionescu. He pointed out that for 2014 there will be 71 arrivals of cruise ships. Over May 24-27 2014 Constanta Harbour will organize the event SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta. 25 ships of different sizes will arrive and will be open to visit by the public.
