Infrastructure: Priority investments in 2014: nine highways, underground line 5, and underground line to Otopeni
The list of public works to be treated next year as priority for financing by the government includes nine highway projects, sections of Drumul Taberei-University underground line and the underground connection to Henri Coanda Airport, about which premier Ponta said it was not efficient.
The list included 21 priority projects to be financed from European grants, payable funds and from the state budget and 4 other projects to be financed from the state budget, all worth 100 million lei.
The 21 projects selected by the government are:
* highways Lugoj-Deva (section Dumbrava-Deva and Lugoj-Dumbrava), Sebes-Turda, Orastie-Sibiu, Arad-Timisoara and by-pass Arad, Cernavoda-Constanta, Nadlac-Arad and Timisoara-Lugoj
* enlargement to 4 lanes of Bucharest South beltway
* repair of DN56 Craiova-Calafat,
* construction of beltway Deva-Orastie and Sibiu
* underground line 5 Drumul Taberei-University (section Raul Doamnei-Hasdeu)
*underground line 5 (Valea Ialomitei station and depot)
* repair of Brasov –Simeria railway (section Coslariu-Sighisoara and Coslariu-Simeria), part of corridor IV for train circulation and maximum speed of 160 km/h
* repair of Frontiera-Curitici-Simeria railway
*protection and rehabilitation of the southern part of Black Sea coast at Constanta and Eforie Nord
* consolidation of I.L. Caragiale National Theatre Bucharest
* laser project at Turnu Magurele

The list also includes the underground link to Henri Coanda International Airport, although premier Ponta said the project was inefficient from the economic point of view.
The priority projects fully financed from the state budget include Brasov-Cluj-Bors highway ( Suplacu de Barcau-Bors section), Bucharest-Brasov highway (Comarnic-Brasov section), Bucharest beltway and repairs at Iasi emergency hospital.
