Local authorities in Ocna Mures, a town in central Romania known for its salt waters, plan to invest over EUR 8.4 million in a spa resort with health centers, rehabilitation, beauty and leisure centers, Romania-Insider reported.
The new spa treatment and recreation base should be able to receive tourists starting 2020, reports local Mediafax.
The resort will include its own spa treatment base with treatment rooms, swimming pools, medical consultations and massage rooms, and spaces for practicing sports with outdoor pools, saunas and gyms. It will be built on an area of 10,656 sqm, and the work will begin in a few months. The outdoor pools will cover an area of over 1,700 sqm.
Ocna Mures is a town in Alba county, located on the southern bank of the Mures river, some 60 kilometers south of Cluj-Napoca. The town has a salt water lake and was a popular spa in the 1980s but then it went into decay.
