Tourism: Antalya, Mallorca, Crete and Lefkada, in demand for holidays this summer

The top of most in demand summer destinations this year included areas in Greece and Turkey, to which Spain was added, according to data offered by tour operator Christian Tour which show that Antalya, Mallorca, Creta, Lefkada, Rhodes, Tenerife and Santorini are most sold summer destinations.

“According to sales statistics we have by mid July, the number of tourists who chose this season for holidays with our agency exceeds 150,000 people. Now we have an occupancy degree of 75%, on the rise by 10% against the same period of 2016,” said Marius Pandel, general manager of Christian Tour, one of the biggest tour operators in Romania.

He says that Romanians are more and more informed, better prepared when it comes to choosing destinations, hotels and even tour operators they use when they go on holidays.

For instance, for Antalya, at prices in the early booking period, tourists can spend their vacation in a five-star hotel, with all inclusive services, at prices of four star hotels.

“The big star of the season is Spain, a destination growing by 300% compared to last year, thanks to direct flights from province towns. For Mallorca, we have direct flights not only from Bucharest, but also from Cluj Napoca and Timisoara. Not long ago Tenerife was considered an exclusive destination because of prices. Now we can offer packages at a very good quality-price ratio, which brought the island of everlasting spring much closer to the Romanians’ financial possibilities,” said the Christian Tour representative.

End of June, when children’s holidays begin, early September, because of lower accommodation prices and August, when most Romanians go on vacations, are periods of time most in demand.
