The number of tourists on the Romanian seaside went up by 12% in the summer of 2016
The seaside drew in the summer of 2016 with 12% more tourists, on the one hand due to the investments made in the last years by the hotel owners who led to the the quality of the touristic services, the widening of the beaches and on the other hand as a result of the international context which determined a larger number of Romanians to spend their holidays at domestic destinations. July and August were the most requested months on the Romanian seashore, the request being about four-day stays, on average, as well as weekends, a press release fo the National Association of Tourism Agencies (ANAT) says.
In the summer of 2016, there was an increase of the offer for all inclusive package holidays, in 23 hotels out of 300 preferred at the seaside as well as the demand on the part of the tourists for this type of service. The resorts in the south of the seaside which improved their hotel offer with four star hotels, were the ones preferred by the tourists during this season.
As a whole, the estimated value increase for the whole season, as compared to the previous summer is of approximately 18%.
‘Following the meetings at the end of the season which the leadership of ANAT had these days with several hotel owners at the seaside, we see that the 2016 season was better than we expected. The occupancy increased by 8-12% against the last summer as we noticed’ Alin Burcea, the ANAT chairman said.
The ANAT leadership, together with several tourism agencies members of the association who sell especially holidays at the Romanian seaside and hotel owners from Eforie Nord, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Cap Aurora, Neptun, Olimp and Mamaia analysed the results of the 2016 season and discussed ways of collaboration, in favour of the tourists for next year.
The priority for 2017 is the increase of sales of seaside holidays, implicitly the degree of occupancy for May, June and September.
‘The Romanian seaside has perspectives of constant increase due to the excellent relationship between the tourism agencies which promote it permanently and the hotelowners who, by the investments they make they improve every year the services offered to the tourists. We need the support of the local authorities who should make investments to improve the beauty of the resorts, and the support of the central authorities who should support the ANAT programmes for the drawing of tourists at the seaside’ Alin Burcea said.
ANAT has active members 500 tourism agencies, the most important in the country which gather more than 85% of the sales of tourism and travel packages, estimated at approximately one billion euro annually, and have together over 4,600 employees.
