The Dorna County, the fifth eco-tourism destination in Romania, officially acknowledged by ANT
The Dorna County has become the fifth eco-tourism destination of Romania, the only of this kind in Bukovina, officially acknowledged by the National Tourism Authority (ANT).
This statute was obtained at the initiative of the Association for Eco-tourism Tara Dornelor (AETD) as a result of the actions undergone in the projects for development and consolidation of the eco-tourism destinations in Romania, financed by Romanian-American Foundation and the Foundation for Partnership, the Green Entrepreneurship 2.0 Programme.
The visit for evaluation took place between 28-30 May and was made by the representatives of ANT, the ministry of environment, waters and forests, the National Institute for Research and Development in Tourism and the Association for Eco-tourism of Romania (AER).
At present, on the map of eco-tourism destinations in Romania there is also the Hateg-Retezat County of Hunedoara county, The Zimbrului –Vanatori county of Neamt, Zarnesti-Piatra Craiului of Brasov and Mara-Cosau-Creasta Cocosului of Maramures.
The touristic area Tara Dornelor (Dorne County) is placed on the south-western part of the Suceava County, the historical region of Bukovina, covering the Dornelor Valley and includes Vatra Dornei and nine communes - Cioc?ne?ti, Cârlibaba, Iacobeni, Dorna Arini, ?aru Dornei, Panaci, Dorna Candrenilor, Co?na ?i Poiana Stampei.The destination is guarded by four mountains- Giumalau, Calimani, Suhard and Bistritei.
The presence of the protected area National Park Calimani makes it even more necessary to develop eco-tourism in the area, to conserve the natural environment with special value.
The development of eco-tourism in Dornelor County is supported by Romanian-American Foundation and the Foundation for Partnership.
